Question 1

What areas does RMG Landscaping Services cover?

Accepted Answer

We're based in Ball Ground and work across Forsyth County and Cherokee County — Cumming, Canton, Alpharetta, Dawsonville and the communities between — within about 30 miles of home base. Our crews also travel to South Carolina and Alabama for retaining-wall and larger landscaping projects, scheduled ahead. If you're not sure whether you're in range, call and ask.

Question 2

Can you repair a retaining wall that's leaning or bulging, or does it have to come down?

Accepted Answer

It depends on why it moved. A wall that's leaning because the base washed out or there's no drainage behind it usually has to come down and go back up properly — patching the face doesn't fix what's pushing on it. A wall with a sound base and one failed section can often be rebuilt in part. We'll tell you honestly which one you have after we've looked at it, and either way you get a written price before we start. Rebuilding walls that others built wrong is the biggest part of our wall work.

Question 3

How much does a retaining wall cost?

Accepted Answer

It comes down to length, height, the material — segmental block, natural stone or timber — and how much excavation, drainage and reinforcement the site needs. A short garden wall and a six-foot wall holding a driveway on a slope are very different jobs. What we can promise is a free site visit and a price in writing before anything starts, with no surprise add-ons once we're digging.

Question 4

What hours are you open?

Accepted Answer

24 hours a day, Sunday through Friday. We're closed Saturday. Storm-damaged trees and hanging limbs don't wait for business hours, so if something's come down on the house or the driveway, call whenever it happens.

Question 5

Do you offer any discount?

Accepted Answer

Yes — 5% off for returning customers, and 5% off for anyone referred by a past customer. Just mention it when you call.

Question 6

Do you speak Spanish?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Every job is run in both English and Spanish, from the estimate to the walk-through at the end — and this website can be read in either language using the toggle in the header.

Question 7

Can you take down a tree that's close to the house?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Most of the trees we remove are in tight spots — over a roof, beside a fence, between houses or near power lines. Where a drop zone isn't possible we climb the tree and rig it down in sections, lowering each piece on a rope so nothing lands where it shouldn't. We'll also tell you plainly if a tree can be trimmed and kept rather than removed.

Question 8

How deep should mulch be, and how often should it be redone?

Accepted Answer

Two to three inches is right for most beds — enough to hold moisture and block weeds without smothering roots. Keep it pulled back from tree trunks and the stems of shrubs. Hardwood and dyed mulch usually need a top-up once a year, in spring; pine straw settles faster and looks best refreshed spring and fall. We measure the beds and price it by the yard, spread.

Question 9

My yard stays wet after rain. Can you fix that?

Accepted Answer

Usually, yes. Standing water is almost always a grading problem, a drainage problem or both. We regrade so the ground falls away from the house, and where the water has nowhere to go we put in French drains, gravel channels or catch basins to move it. It's often the first thing we fix before any planting or hardscape goes in.

Question 10

Do you work for builders and businesses, or just homeowners?

Accepted Answer

All three. Homeowners are the biggest part of what we do, but we also handle finish grading, retaining walls and landscaping for builders, mulch and cleanup for HOAs, and walls, drainage and lot work for commercial properties — in North Georgia and, by appointment, in South Carolina and Alabama.
